#BIRTHDAY: Kathy Leander from Switzerland is 60 today
Our friends from the heights of Europe that calls itself the Swiss Confederation have been stalwarts of Eurovision from the start. As you would expect, in almost seventy year’s worth of participation, there have been highs and lows. We all remember the highs, but as for the lows…
In other news, today’s birthday girl Kathy Leander got herself through a preselection when she got the Swiss golden ticket in 1996. She managed an eighth spot, although we didn’t know that until after the big Saturday night show. On to Oslo, and she still finished 16th with her big French language ballad. So was that a high or a low? On total Swiss form, it would probably be put down as low. But on the plus side, The Swiss won the first contest, and no-one can take that away from them.
