#ISRAEL: EBU Release Statement Surrounding 2022 Participation

Earlier today, IPBC (KAN), the Israeli national broadcaster, released a statement concerning withdrawal from this year’s Contest, due to a strike at the Foreign Ministry. The Foreign Ministry provide extra security for Israel delegations at international events.

Over the course of the day, mixed messages have been relayed in the media – including non-attending, but using their live-on-tape recording (which is meant to be for Coronavirus reasons only). The European Broadcasting Union have stepped in and released the following statement:

“We are aware of the statement made by KAN this morning and are in dialogue with them about Israel’s continued participation in this year’s event.”
