
On the lead up to the 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which is been held in Paris, we are looking back at all the countries to have participated in the Contest and their histories – past and present. Today we are continuing with Azerbaijan’s story.
Azerbaijan debuted at the 2012 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Omar & Suada participated with “Girls and Boys”, finishing in 11th place and 49 points.
Rustam Karimov represented Azerbaijan at the 2013 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, in Kyiv, Ukraine. He participated with “Me and My Guitar”, finishing in 7th place (their best position) and 66 points.
After a five year wait, Azerbaijan returned to the 2018 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, in Minsk, Belarus. Fidan Huseynova participated with “I Wanna Be Like You”, finishing in 16th and last place, with 47 points.
After a three year wait, Azerbaijan are back at the 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, in Paris, France. Can Sona Azizova take Azerbaijan’s first victory with “One of Those Days”?
