Last night RTP, the Portuguese national broadcaster, announced during the final of The Voice Kids of Portugal, that the country will be returning to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2021. Portugal are the second country to announce their return to the Contest for 2021, following Ireland.

Furthermore, the winner of The Voice Kids of Portugal would go and represent them. Simão Oliveira was the lucky winner and is also the first artist to be selected for the 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. It is currently unclear how his song will be chosen.
