This has been a very different year thanks to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, however we have had plenty of Eurovision related music to enjoy. Here at Eurovision Ireland and our friends from the around the Eurovision Community, we have chosen just five tracks that have summed up our year – coming from the Eurovision National Finals, the cancelled 2020 Eurovision Song Contest, Eurovision: Europe Shine A Light, Eurovision: The Story Of Fire Saga, the Junior Song Contest 2020 and the Turkvision Song Contest 2020.
Next up is Bogdan Stefan, with tracks selected from France, Iceland, Croatia and Sweden.
“J’imagine”
The song in 2020 that put a smile on my face. Watching the Junior Eurovision Song Contest made me feel hope for the next year’s Eurovision. Rooting for my favourites, voting and waiting for the results brought back a sense of normality. J’imagine was the perfect song for this year’s JESC. Happy, fun and with a simple chorus that makes you sing along.
“Think About Things”
Conqured not only the Eurovision fans, but all of Europe thanks to Tiktok. It was also featured on Strictly Come Dancing. Love it or hate, the song gets into your head and brings you a good disposition. For me, Thinking about things is the song that would have had a great chance of winning the whole contest.
“Jaja Ding Dong”
Yes, Husavik gave us all goosies, but the satisfaction of shouting ‘Play Jaja Ding Dong’, was exactly what I needed feeling trapped in this lockdown.
“Divlji Vjetre”
Is the Eurovision song that conquered my heart this year. This poetic wild wind resonated with my sadness about what was happening, but at the same time it lifted me up each time I sang it (misspronouncing the lyrics). Divlji Vjetre is the song I will always listen with great pleasure.
“Move”
The Mamas were the act I was most looking forward to see on the main stage. Move is for the take me to church song that you want to sing along and fill your soul with good feeling.
