All six shows for next year’s Melodifestivalen will take place from the same venue in Stockholm – SVT has just announced. 2021 was due to be the twentieth anniversary tour for the Contest.
Anette Helenius, the Project Manager for Melodifestivalen, had the following to say:
“An intermediate tour requires long planning. At present, it is not allowed to arrange events for a larger audience and no one knows what it will look like after the turn of the year. Therefore, it is not possible for SVT, host cities or tour coordinators to plan for a tour in 2021.
It is 20 years since the modern Melodifestivalen started and we will celebrate that extra this year. Is there ever a time we need something to gather around, agree on and think differently about, it is now. Despite the situation, we are happy that we will be able to offer an exciting music competition and great show just as usual. The Melodifestivalen is and continues to be our common tradition and the whole of Sweden’s party.”
The first Semi Final will take place on Saturday 6th February, while the Grand Final takes place on Saturday 13th March.
