Every Monday, we will be looking back at former participating nations at the Eurovision Song Contest. This week, we look back at Morocco, a country that competed only once – in 1980.
Morocco debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest back in 1980, when the Contest was held in The Hague, the Netherlands. Samira Bensaid represented Morocco in 1980 with her entry “Bitaqat Hub”.

Morocco sang their one and only entry to date in Arabic.
Morocco have not participated in the Eurovision Song Contest since they made their debut in 1980, in The Hague. SNRT have yet to show an interest in returning, despite various rumours over the years of Morocco’s second channel, 2MTV showing an interest. Only time will tell if the African nation will make a return.
