Hungary will be the European Capital of Culture throughout 2023 and currently has eight cities vying to be the host. The eight potential cities are: Godollo, Gyor, Debrecen, Eger, Miskolc, Szekesfehervar, Tokaj and Veszprem.
The eight cities have been asked to provide bids for the honour of Capital of Culture, with the inclusion of Eurovision Young Dancers and Eurovision Choir Of The Year to be held in their city.
Hungary have not participated in the Eurovision Young Dancers since 1999, so can we expect a return to the competition in 2019 or 2021? The country however took part in the inaugural Eurovision Choir Of The Year last year in Riga and set to continue with their participation.
Hungary have tried to bid for the Eurovision Young Musicians 2016 – however lost out to Cologne, Germany. It is currently unknown when or even if the country will be able to bid for the 2023 events.
