BELGIUM: VRT selects Laura Groeseneken for Eurovision 2018 in Lisbon

Flemish broadcaster VRT has announced that Laura Goreseneken will represent Belgium at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon.

Laura was born in Leuven in 1990 and has been collaberating with Ozark Henry since 2014. She has also performed as a soloist under the name Sennek.

There are currently no details of when and how the song will be chosen, although VRT could follow RTBF’s lead from 2017 by using an internal selection.

Here’s Laura performing a song with an English lyric that you might recognise from Kyiv.

Belgium was one of the original countries in the Eurovision Song Contest, and has performed in 59 contests. The participation traditionally alternates between the French- and Dutch-language broadcasters RTBF and VRT respectively. Belgium’s only win came in 1986 when Sandra Kim performed ‘J’aime la vie’ . In Kyiv in May, Blanche finished fourth in the Grand Final with ‘City lights’.

We eagerly await Laura’s song for Lisbon.
