Another entrant is now known for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which takes place on 21 November. The Netherlands, an continual presence at JESC, finished their selection process that consisted of two semi-finals and a final. Shalisa has won the golden ticket after achieving a maximum score in the 3 October final in Aalsmeer.
The Dutch selection had two semi-finals of four songs. Two automatically qualified, with a wild card also chosen. In each of these shows, a televote, an expert jury and a kids’ jury each constituted a third of the vote. In the final, Shalisa scored the maximum from all three elements, making her the clear winner.
Shalisa’s song is called “Million lights” and, despite the title, is sung in Dutch. She performs her song at a piano, so we can see she’s already a competent musician. Shalisa is 15 and comes from Wognum in Noord-Holland.
We wish the Dutch well at JESC next month. Here’s the song. What do you think about it?
