REVIEW : We cast an eye over Jedward’s ‘Make Your Own Luck’ and speedos!
Jedward continue their transition to their more mature sounding music and they do it in style. ‘Make Your Own Luck’ sees the dynamic duo go for a Soulful R-n-B vibe that is sure to surprise people.
This doesn’t really sound like Jedward and by that I mean we hear falsetto vocals from John and Edward on this track and this is something new for this listener.
The song for me sounds like something that I could easily see Justin Timberlake performing. Gone is the over charged jumping around and in its place we have a song that has all the qualities of an American production from Timberland or Todd Terry.
One cannot ignore that the song is clearly about Jedward’s own journey through their career as they are truly ‘Making their own luck’ as they are an Independent act these days.
I for one think that since they parted ways with Louis Walsh they have produced their best music to date. Gone are the gimmicks (which I loved) but now they are singing songs that I can happily see being played on the best soul radio stations and night clubs.
For me what is very interesting is that in the video for ‘Make Your Own Luck’ you actually don’t get to see the twins in the same shot at the same time until the very end. Of course Twins have a special connection but they seem to be more comfortable to step out alone more easily these days. They also are not afraid to almost bare all and in speedos! Now ‘that takes some balls’ if you pardon the pun.
The song is released on January 30th and you can do so on iTunes HERE.
This for me is the best song that Jedward have released to date and if it is typical of things to come, then ‘Making Your Own Luck’ is certainly a message and song to be listened to.
Points out of 12 – It has to be DOUZE POINTS
