UK – Duncan James of Blue talks for The Albert Kennedy Trust on their campaign ‘How did you come out?’
Unlike some celebrities, many young people do not receive the support and love they need when they come out. Last year AKT provided 8,000 nights of accommodation to young people facing abuse and rejection, just for being brave enough to come out.
Duncan speaks in the promotional video for the charity on his coming out in the public media and his fears of what might happen to him.
The goal of the charity is that by giving just £25 to AKT this winter you can help us take a young LGBT person off the streets for 24 hours and provide them with food and travel to somewhere safe for the night.
It is hard to think that certain portions of our society can reject people when they come out. Bravo to Duncan and the other celebrities who shared their stories on ‘How did you come out?’ for The Albert Kennedy Trust.
