Peret’s song from Eurovision 1974 is personally one of my favourites from Spain over the history of the contest. A talented man not only was he a singer but also a guitarist, composer and producer and even a Pastor.

In Spain he was referred to as the ‘King of Rumba’ and one of the forefathers of what is known as ‘Catalan rumba’. One could describe this music as a fusion between flamenco rumba, mambo and even rock n’ roll.
At Eurovision in 1974 he performed the song ‘Canta y sé feliz/Sing and be happy’ and truly that song always has that effect on me everytime I hear it. He placed 9th in the Grand Final.
He was also famed for countless albums but one of his first and most beloved songs was the 1971 classic ‘Borriquito’ – you will enjoy this song.
Our thoughts are with Peret’s family at this time.
