Georgian TV station GPB has announced that it has selected the performers for their entry in the 12th Junior Eurovision Song Contest, taking place in Malta on 15 November.
From an initial field of 40 entrants, a jury appointed by GPB auditioned 10 acts, and eventually picked a trio consisting of Lizi Japaridze, who’s 10, Sofi and Dea Dashniani, who are both 11. Now they’ve been selected, they will start working on their song which will be presented at a later date.
Georgia has one of the best records on Junior ESC, with two wins. They first won in 2008 with the song ‘Bzz…’ in the Cypriot seaside resort of Limassol performed by Bzikebi. Three years later the group Candy won with ‘Candy music’ in Yerevan. So perhaps another contest on a Mediterranean island might bode well for Georgia.
