Lithuania – LRT (Lithuanian National Broadcaster) has announced that they are postponing their national final for Eurovision 2014. The original date was set for February 15th but that will now be irescheduled in March.
What is the reason? According to LRT producer Laura Paukštė it is because of the
“excellent cable ratings for the show”
Over 150 thousand Lithuanians are tuning into the show which is an increase on the figures from last year hence they want to extend the contest.
There have been queries over potential on-line voting irregularities where only one vote per IP address was to be allowed. LRT have said that they have addressed this and voided any duplication votes.
Also it should be noted that even though an artist maybe eliminated from the contest over the coming weeks – the songs that they perform are NOT eliminated from potentially being the Lithuanian entry for Eurovision 2014.
Last Saturday Vilija Matačiūnaitė with the song “Attention” ranked 1st in the Heat.
You can listen to all the Lithuanian songs HERE
The next elimination round is scheduled for this Saturday January 25th.
