According to Eurovoix and Tunder.be, Belgium may be forced into applying to be placed in the Second Semi-Final at Eurovision 2014.

The reason for this alleged request is due to a clash of major TV events in Belgium on the date of Semi Final 1 (May 6th). Tuesday May 6th is the date scheduled for the final of “The Voice of Belgium” on broadcaster RTBF. Should Belgium be drawn on Semi Final 1 at Eurovision 2014 then VRT (Belgian Broadcaster for 2014) would see them in a scheduling challenge between “The Voice Final” on RTBF and potentially Belgium’s Eurovision Semi Final on VRT at the same time.

The Voice of Belgium has strong tv ratings so VRT may well indeed not want to be placed in Semi-Final 1. More news to follow on this story.

Belgium last year qualified for the Grand Final of Eurovision and placed 12 with “Love Kills” performed by Roberto Bellarosa.
