The Eurovision season really begins when Sweden announce their Melodifestivalen details. Everyone looks at the 6 week national selection show (though some will not admit to it) and EVERYONE has an opinion on the songs. Today our good friends at SVT announced their details for 2014 – thank you “Papa Schlager”.
As in earlier years, there will be the 4 heats, the Second Chance round and the Grand Final. Here are the dates for your calendar
Heat 1:February 1st, Malmö, Malmö Arena
Heat 2: February 8th, Linköping, Cloetta Center
Heat 3: February 15th, Göteborg, Scandinavium
Heat 4: February 22nd, Örnsköldsvik, Fjällräven Center
Second Chance : March 1st, Lidköping, Sparbanken Lidköping Arena
Grand Final: March 8th, Stockholm, Friends Arena
SVT will be showing Europe a new city this year, as Lidkoping makes its Melodifestivalen Host city début.
Melodifestivalen 2014 will start where Eurovision 2013 finished off – almost like “The Circle of Life”
You are guaranteed a fun time at Melodifestivalen as it is one huge party. We would highly suggest going and if for the final, you can take in the Abba Museum in Stockholm too – A Eurovision Pilgrimage – as per our guide
Don’t forget that you will be treated to some of the best Interval Acts on the Eurovision Circuit – Nothing beats this one from earlier this year
