#BIRTHDAY: Toto Cutugno from Italy is 80 today If you’re a Eurovision fan worth their gravy (or glitter), you might have an eye on its history. Which countries have hosted, which cities have hosted, that sort of thing. Of course, every contest needs a host or hosts. And […]
#BIRTHDAY: Jana Burčeska from North Macedonia is 30 today We all love success, and some countries are used to it. Then there are those that are either unsuccessful, or just plain unlucky. Unlucky because, perhaps, they’re just unfashionable. But even unfashionable countries can still do well. Just look […]
#BIRTHDAY: Basim from Denmark is 31 today The home entrant in a contest, as we’ve discussed before, gets the best and worst of the deal when they get up on that stage. They don’t get to travel, but they get that huge home support. When you’re singing for […]
#BIRTHDAY: Piera Martell from Switzerland is 80 today The 1970s. An interesting time when our contest was a light entertainment show and all done in one evening. And arguably the decade in which the greatest ever act to emerge, well, emerged. It was 1974 and we were in […]

Amongst her various performances, Loreen performed “Tattoo”, which you can watch below: If you missed the premiere episode of Allsång på Skansen 2023, you can watch […]
#BIRTHDAY: Miriam Christine from Malta is 45 today Do you ever wonder how some people from one country end up in another? Or how someone’s parents got together, in order that someone has an unusual dual nationality? A certain Burkinabé-Latvian combination must be one of the most unusual. […]
#BIRTHDAY: Maxi Garden from Germany is 49 today Duos come in strange pairings sometimes. We’ve had the lovers, the siblings, the twins, and the people put together as a result of a TV talent show. But then there is another type of duo. This is the parent and […]
#BIRTHDAY: Kristina Hautala from Finland is 75 today Do you think it’s true that some languages sound easier on the ear than others? French songs did well in the early days, before English came along. Other languages, however, never really seemed to hit the mark. Today’s birthday girl […]
#BIRTHDAY: Michael Ball from the UK is 61 today Runner-up day today. There’s been plenty of them through the years. Only one year – to my knowledge – has no runner-up. It’s a good place if you’re a host broadcaster’s entry for many reasons. And back in the […]
