
Here at Eurovision Ireland, we are taking a historical look back on our favourite Contests past and present, on the very day they took place. Today it’s December 19th:
Sunday 19th December 2021
On this day in 2021, the 19th edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest took place in Paris, France. Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Ireland, Italy, North Macedonia & Portugal all returned. Belarus withdrew. Armenia took victory with Maléna performing “Qami Qami” and 224 points.
Saturday 19th December 2015
On this day in 2015, the 3rd edition of the Turkvision Song Contest took place in Istanbul, Turkey. Serbia & Syria debuted, while Belarus, Kosovo & Northern Cyprus returned. Altai Republic, Belarus, Bashkortostan, Crimea, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, Khakassia, Kosovo, Tatarstan, Turkmenistan, Tuva & Yakutia all withdrew. Kyrgyzstan took victory with Jiidesh Idirisova performing “Kim bilet” and 194 points.
