
Yle, the Finnish national broadcaster, have announced details of UMK – their national selection for the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest, in Malmo.
Yle have announced that UMK 2024 will be held on Saturday 10th February. The Contest will be moving from Turku to Tampere, the venue been the Nokia Arena – with a larger capacity of 13,455. Following the submission of 363 songs, the finalists will be announced on Wednesday 10th January.
Anssi Autio, Executive Producer of UMK, had the following to say:
“Looking back over the entire 13-year history of UMK, I can say that we’re now in a better position than ever before. In the eyes of our Finnish and international audience, UMK has become an unparalleled hit factory and source of top-tier entertainment, whose move to a bigger venue is also served by the massive increase in Eurovision’s popularity.”
