#BIRTHDAY: Hadise from Türkiye is 37 today

Let’s cast our minds back to former years, to countries taking a long-term absence from our favourite TV show. They could be financially constrained, disappointed with results, or there could be other darker reasons.

Our friends in Türkiye/Turkey used to be there through thick and thin. Sadly no longer, but we won’t go into the possible reasons why here. But in 34 appearances they managed one win, one second place and one third place. Next in line were two fourth places, one of them achieved by today’s birthday girl Hadise Açıkgöz. Born in Belgium to Turkic parents, her little ditty went down well with the crowd in M*sc*w and with Europe. Her song scored off every country and she got six maxima. Without the Turks, it’s unlikely we’ll get more of this type of music. So just enjoy this precious moment in time.
