#SWEDEN: Melodifestivalen 2022 Replaces Andra Chansen

Melodifestivalen 2022 will see a format change – Andra Chansen is been replaced by Semi Final 5. Semi Final 5 will see the acts that will have progressed to the traditional Andra Chansen round divided into two groups of four. The top act with the most votes from both group will progress to the Final in Friend’s Arena, Stockholm. The Final will therefore go back to ten acts.

Anette Brattström, Melodifestivalen Project Manager, had the following to say:

“The purpose of the Second Chance from the beginning was that the artist would have the opportunity to redo their performance from the competition if you felt that there was something to do differently. But today, almost everything is rehearsed to perfection so there are no major changes made. Almost no one wants to make changes and then the idea of Second Chance fails.”

The new Semi Final 5, will take place on Saturday 5th March, from Hägglunds Arena in Örnsköldsvik.
