OBITUARY: Eduardo Nascimento has died aged 76

Portuguese singer Eduardo Nascimento was the first black male performer in the Eurovision Song Contest, and has died after a short illness.

He represented Portugal in the 1967 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, finishing twelfth, receiving points from France, Spain and Switzerland.

Born in Luanda in what is now Angola, he was the lead singer with the five-piece band Os Rocks. They had success with an EP Wish I may in 1966.
