BIRTHDAY: Hayko from Armenia is 46 today

Second to do something isn’t always that bad. It’s true that first gets all the publicity, but second can do their stuff without less pressure, as first has done all the groundwork.

In 2006, we saw Armenia take part in our favourite TV show for the first time. In a fanfare, they came eighth in the Grand Final. The following year we saw today’s birthday boy Հայկ “Հայկո” Հակոբյան/Hayk “Hayko” Hakobyan. The groundwork had been done, and he was safely in the Grand Final without going through the semi-final. And what happened? He also came eighth, but with more points than in 2006. So did that make him more successful? Well, on countback, yes. So second definitely isn’t quite as bad after all.
