In a quick rush before Christmas, Eurovision Ireland had the luck to catch-up with MIHAI, another act qualified in the Semi- Finals or Romania’s Selectia Nationala 2019 for Eurovision. Have a look at what he told us!
You are already a legend in the world of Eurovision. What prompted you to take part in the 2019 National Selection this year?
It’s no longer a secret! I said it repeatedly: besides the activities that give me a bit of happiness, I’ve promised myself (in fact – I swore to myself) that I will sign up for Eurovision until the day I will bring it home in Romania. So this is why all this madness and enormous motivation! In addition, I inherited ambition from both parents, which makes my path easier!
So here I am again and again!
And THAT SPECIAL song must come! I believe in BAYA. It’s the most rhythmic, dancing song I have at this time in the repertoire. It actually lifts you up from your chair and makes you shake your bum.
As you just said, your song is a dancing one with Oriental influences. Will we see you dancing? I think the public wants to see this from you.
Yes. That was the idea. In 2006, with TORNERO I’ve danced very little, although the song had an upbeat rhythm. I was probably afraid I won’t be able to catch my breath if I danced.
Now, however, I participated for 4 months in a mega-show TV titled “YOUR FACE SOUNDS FAMILIAR”, an international show brought to Romania. There you have to imitate the star altogether! It’s like a musical school: you learn to dance, singing and perform, all at the same time.
I got a lot of courage after this show, where I finished second. I also had to dance in 6-7 shows and I saw that I was able to do both. Conclusion: I was scared for nothing! I can sing and dance at the same time. And now I can’t wait to dance and sing for the first time in a show of mine!
Tell us how will MIHAI celebrate the winter holidays?
Singing! That’s what I’ve been doing for the past 18. For Christmas, I will be in Sinaia, where I will perform in 3 different places. On the New Year’s Eve I have 6 concerts in the same area: Sinaia, Predeal, and Valenii de Munte.
Do you have any ritual before going on stage?
Not really! Sometimes I cross myself, but in general, no! All I do is to be extra careful 2-3 days before the concert so that I won’t have a coarse voice! I speak as little as possible, I don’t stay where people smoke I don’t stay out in the cold and don’t drink cold beverages.
What do you want to say to your fans reading this interview?
Believe in me as you have done so far! I’m a hardworking and ambitious man and quite powerful too. Nothing can put me down at this hour! I urge all those who have always supported me to still believe in their idol!
Thank you and best of luck!
