
Here at Eurovision Ireland, we look at what happened at the Eurovision Song Contest and Family of Events #OnThisDay. Today is 9th May 2018 and we look at two of Johnny Logan’s victories.
9th May – 31 Years Ago Today
On this day in 1987, the 32nd Eurovision Song Contest took place in the Centenary Palace, Brussels. Johnny Logan took part for Ireland, becoming their third entry to date, to win for his country. Johnny Logan finished with a 31 point margin over his nearest competitor, Wind from the Germany.

9th May – 26 Years Ago Today
On this day in 1992, the 37th Eurovision Song Contest took place in the Malmomassen, Malmo. Johnny Logan took part for Ireland as a writer, with Linda Martin as the performer. Linda Martin became their fourth entry to date, to win for her country. Linda Martin finished with a 16 point margin over her nearest competitor, Micheal Ball from the United Kingdom.

9th May – 20 Years Ago Today
On this day in 1998, the 43rd Eurovision Song Contest took place in the National Indoor Arena, Birmingham. Dana International took part for Israel, becoming their third entry to date, to win for her country. Dana International finished with a 6 point margin over her nearest competitor, Imaani from the United Kingdom. It was also the last time that the United Kingdom has hosted the Contest (excluding specials) to date.
