Hey! Hey! Hiyayaya ho! Hey! Hey! Hiyayaya ho!
Recently we spoke to Belarusian hopefuls Naviband about their bid to represent Belarus at the Eurovision Song Contest! Check out what they had to say below!
Thank you for taking the time to be interviewed by Eurovision Ireland! Firstly, can you tell us a bit about yourselves? Who are Naviband?
Naviband is a big team, but two people are the core of the band – Ksyusha and Artem. They compose, write lyrics, create the image of the band and give their listeners the most important thing – warmth and energy!
Sounds great! Can you tell us more about your song for this year’s national selection in Belarus, “Historiyja Majho Zhytstsia”?
Our song is about believing in the best, about the most beautiful and interesting moments that are going to happen to us and making our own history. We feel our connection with nature, that’s why our music video looks so natural. We filmed it in the forest.
We love your music video! We know you’ve tried to represent Belarus at Eurovision in the past. What would winning this year’s national selection mean to you?
We are very serious about winning this year. We have confidence in our song, and our characters. We feel much more natural this time. Moreover, it’s very important for us to let the Eurovision 2017 audience hear a song in our native language, Belarusian. Not any other Belarusian musician has ever done that before.
Do you think it’s important to sing in your native language and share this part of your culture with Europe? As you said, Belarusian has never been heard at Eurovision before!
This is the most important thing for us. We are eager to show that Belarus is a unique, authentic, bright and picturesque country with its own language and traditions. Besides that, there are a couple of moments in our song that the entire Europe can sing along with us – Hey! Hey! Hiyayaya ho!

We love that chorus here at Eurovision Ireland! Clearly you love singing, but if you were not singers, what do you think you would have liked to do instead?
Frankly speaking, we can’t even imagine it! This is the only thing that we do well and we make our living with the music we play. This kind of questions scares us :))))
Lastly, do you have a message for your fans at Eurovision Ireland and around the world?
We feel that our song is somewhat similar to traditional Irish motives. It makes us closer. ;-) It’s great pleasure to be interviewed by you!
A big thank you for Naviband for their answers! Дзякую!
Who are you most looking forward to hearing at the Belarusian selection? Do you want to see Naviband go to Kyiv?
Let us know what you think!
