For all Eurovision fans, the 2017 season well and truly started this week as Cyprus became the first country to announce their singer for the contest next May in Kyiv!

27 year old Hovig has the great honor and responsibility to represent Cyprus. His song, which will be revealed at a later date, was composed by Swedish Eurovision veteran Thomas G:son, who composed many Eurovision favorites such as Euphoria (Sweden 2012), Quédate conmigo (Spain 2012), and even Cyprus’ latest Eurovision song, Alter ego from 2016.

This may be Hovig’s first time on the Eurovision stage, but he is well known to Cypriot Eurovision fans, trying out in the 2010 and 2015 national selections.
