Bojana Stamenov – How to stage her song at Eurovision

SERBIA: Our thoughts on how Bojana Stamenov should stage her Eurovision Entry ‘Beauty Never Lies’.

How do you think she should perform in Vienna?

So here are some more first thoughts on ‘How Should They Stage their song at Eurovision 2015’?

Dobra večer Evropa, puno pozdrava iz Beograda! Serbia’s delightful Bojana Stamenov has established herself as a firm fan favourite for this year’s contest. But how should she stage ‘Beauty Never Lies’ in Vienna?

Serbia have always had very strong staging when it comes to Eurovision. Their performance for their debut and first ever win ‘Molitva’ in 2007 was simple, but hugely effective. This being said, their dramatic yet subtle stagings have always been for melancholic Balkan ballads – Bojana’s boppy jingle will need a different approach.

By now, you’ll have noticed I usually favour more subdued performances that give the music and lyrics centre stage. But once in a while, there is a song that has great music and lyrics AND will suit something bright, colourful and attention grabbing, giving the fans a stunning visual show too. And Bojana my dear, I think your song is perfect for that!

As the core message of Bojana’s song is that we are all beautiful regardless of what we look like or who we are (the true spirit of the Eurovision Song Contest!) the staging should reflect this. She has had great success with her music video, combining the faces of different people from across the continent singing along with her, and I think this could transfer well to the stage in Vienna.

Similar to Malta’s performance from last year, Bojana should be joined on stage with pictures showing the faces of all different kinds of Europeans to really press home her lyrics. Top it all off by staging it in glorious technicolour and add Bojana’s impressive vocals – and WOW!

Best of luck in Vienna Bojana! Srećno! It’s been 8 years since Serbia last won Eurovision – does Bojana have what it takes to take the trophy back to Belgrade?
