TURKEY : Kayahan Acar In Memoriam (1949-2015)
It is with sad news that we tell of the passing of Turkish Eurovision representative Kayahan Acar.
Kayahn Acar composed and sang the Turkish entry at Eurovision in 1990. He performed the song ‘Gözlerinin Hapsindeyim’.
He died yesterday at the age of 66 after a two-year battle with cancer.
Kayahan performed a farewell concert in Istanbul on the 14th of February.
He was a much-loved singer and guitarist in Turkey and the Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu tweeted on the news of the passing of Kayahan
“We are in grief over losing Kayahan, who contributed to Turkish music with countless compositions and marked a generation with his songs,”
Our thoughts and prayers are with Kayahan Acar’s family and friends.
