Since then over 10 thousand of Cliff Richards fans have left him messages of support on his official Facebook page. Cilla Black – legendary British singer/presenter and life long friend of Richards has come to his defense.
“Cliff is a very close friend of mine and has been for a million years. I, like everyone else, was shocked to hear of these allegations and I am absolutely positive that they are without foundation.”
Northern Irish tv presenter Gloria Hunniford said
“I’ve never seen Cliff put a foot or a word wrong in his life, never. He is a gorgeous man.”
Police have come under scrutiny as the Media were already at Cliff Richard’s UK residence before the police arrived to carry out a surprise search of the singers home. Questions are being asked how such a secret undercover police operation was known by the UK media.
Richards is currently in his Algarve residence and is cooperating with the police in their investigations.
Cliff Richard came second at Eurovision in 1968 and third in 1973.
