Ukraine thinking of changing their entry for Eurovision 2014? Well this would not be the first time this has happened but with recent developments in the country this story has begun to gain some traction.

Maria Yaremchuk won the right to represent Ukraine at Eurovision 2014 towards the end of last year with her song “Tick Tock”. The song was changed somewhat and premiered at the Maltese National Final.

Ukrainian TV have been eluding to big changes for their Eurovision performance but have been very quiet. There has been little press from Maria also. Considering the political situation in the country that could be expected. However despite no official video release for “Tick Tock” there has been a new song released this week from Maria. It is a dramatic Russian language Ballad called “Bez Tebya” and it is exactly 3 minutes long.

We have reached out to the Ukrainian delegation for official confirmation and will let you know.

Would this be a better song for Eurovision?

UPDATE

2 points to report on since our original story yesterday.

First  – Ukrainian Delegation had no comment to make on the speculation that they may change their song for Eurovision 2014.

Second – We did some further investigation into the song “Bez Tebya” and have found that Maria Yaremchuk recorded a version of the song over a year ago and this newly released video now includes footage of her recently that was released this week – hence the same dress that we saw her wear at the Maltese National Final recently. Further to that we have learnt that Anna-Maria and Rostislav Todorescu have also recorded the song.

What we have noticed is that the betting odds for the Ukraine to win Eurovision has shortened dramatically over the past week with Paddy Power.

  1. I think, Tick-Tock is perfect song for Eurovision – people like fairttales, love and dances)) so the choice of song is right!!!!

  2. Wooow I love this!!! Way far more effective than Tick Tock. It would be amazing if she sent this.

  3. A Russian language song?most likely not.
As the tension with Russia rising, it will be very un-nationalistic to send a song in Russian. And the official language in Ukraine is not Russian.
Maybe they think to send a song in Ukrainian, that’s sound more logic
