Sweden have announced their first Act that will compete at Melodifestivalen 2014. The band “EKO” today won the Swedish Radio Talent contest “Svensktoppen nästa” and have been awarded a place in the heats of Melodifestivalen 2014.
Eight acts competed in the “Svensktoppen nästa” today. They represented different regions of Sweden and genres of music too. There was a “Super Final” where the top 2 acts battled it out for the right to compete at Melodifestivalen 2014. The acts were selected by a 50/50 split vote between a jury and SMS-voting radio listeners.
The 2 acts that made the “Super Final” were Sophia Sandberg-Albihn and EKO. The final decision for the ultimate winner was left to the public. The Band EKO won with their song “Yellow“. EKO now will take part at Melodifestivalen 2014, but must perform an alternative song to “Yellow”.
EKO consists of 3 band members – Anna Lidman, Hannes Lundberg and Michael Ottosson. The band’s music is a heavy mixture of electro-pop and ethic melodies.
