Yes it is that time of the year again – time for the annual “Eurovision Young Dancers” competition. This year the competition will be held in Gdansk in Poland this Friday June 14th. A lot of “Eurovision Song Contest” followers have not heard of the “Eurovision Young Dancers” competition before. So here is the guide to what you need to know!

Competition Overview

“The Eurovision Young Dancers competition is open to solo dancers aged between 16 and 21, from EBU Member broadcasters. The aim of the competition is to provide a showcase for top-class contemporary artistic dance performances and bring the finest young dancers to the international spotlight, in front of a large television audience.”

How is the winner decided?

“The new format features solo performances by each participant, then a ‘group dance’, in which the dancers are divided into two groups. The jury then selects a finalist from each group and the two then perform a ‘dance-off’ duel to decide the winner.”
