Irish 2004 Eurovision Representative Chris Doran, was one of eight people brought to a special sitting of Carrick-on-Suir district court following a row on a street in the town yesterday morning. The Waterford born singer represented Ireland in the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest in Istanbul with the song written by former Westlife band member Bryan McFadden.
The eight people (7 men and 1 woman) arrested , were from Clonmel, Carrick and Waterford were charged with affray. They include former Eurovision singer Chris Doran from Waterford city who represented Ireland in the Eurovision in Turkey where he came 23rd out of 24 entires.

All eight people have been remanded on bail under certain conditions and are due back in court in July. A large crowd gathered outside the court. Each face one charge of violence or threatening to use violence in an incident that occurred shortly after 9am yesterday in Sean Kelly square in Carrick on Suir.
Doran was remanded on bail on his own bond of €500 and is due back in court on July 4th. Afterwards, he was driven away by members of his family. “He is to reside at his apartment in Tramore and has to observe a curfew from 11pm to 7am each night. Like others, he is not to contact people also charged this evening. Judge Kevin Staunton granted Mr Doran free legal aid, as he did with the others charged.”
