Switzerland’s Eurovision entrants – Takasa – have taken to the stage for their first Eurovision rehearsal. After the controversy of their name and uniform change, they have come to Eurovision dressed in blue jeans and white shirts – looking like an advertisement for “The Gap”.

If this song is to progress to the Grand Final then a lot of work will have to take place over the coming days. For an inspirational song they are completely static on the stage that makes the performance look as lifeless as the cardboard cut outs that are surrounding the stage at present.

The band members stand completely still for the entire performance and make no attempt to interact with the cameras. The backdrop used was of wooden panelling – ironic – and I cannot see what the overall concept is supposed to be. Don’t get me wrong, I am not looking for cart wheels across the stage, but some interaction would be appreciated.

The vocals have improved since their Amsterdam performance yet they sounded somewhat hollow in parts. Their lack of interaction is coming across on camera and must be looked at. The guitar player is making an attempt to work with the cameras and he should be more dynamic like he was in the Swiss National Final. Something has changed with the band since they have left the comfort of their name and uniforms.

  1. I quite like this entry but am not sure how it will be received by the juries or the televoters. Borderline qualifier perhaps but am not even certain of that..
