He has won Italian X-Factor and the country has been looking for him to be their representative at Eurovision. Tonight at the Sanremo Song Contest the decision was made that Marco Mengoni will go to Sweden.

He performed the song “L’essenziale” (The Essential) in the contest but that does not necessarily mean that her will perform it at Eurovision.
