#STORYOFMYLIFE – Day Five with Sarah from EI

#STORYOFMYLIFE – Day Five with Sarah from EI

In this series, we’ll be talking to someone and asking them to pick five songs (over five days) that mean something to them. These may not be their top five songs of all time – merely songs that attach to a specific memory or time in their life.

Sarah from Eurovision Ireland continues this series. What’s her final choice, and what’s the story behind it?

Lordi – Hard Rock Hallelujah

I have chosen this song, even though when I first heard it prior to the 2006 contest in Athens, I wasn’t a fan of it. My son was. He predicted that Lordi would win the contest and I remember saying to him that rock generally has mixed results at Eurovision. We were also lucky enough to get tickets to go to the Saturday Grand Final dress rehearsal in Athens.

I have to say that once I saw them in the arena, I started to think that with the in your face performance that they gave, they had a real prospect of winning  and indeed they went on to win the contest! A good memory of the first Eurovision Song Contest that I attended.

That’s Sarah’s final choice. Come back on Monday for the start of another five memorable songs. If you have five songs that really mean something to you, drop us a line with them and the stories behind them, and you could feature soon.
