#STORYOFMYLIFE – Day One with Sarah from EI

In this series, we’ll be talking to someone and asking them to pick five songs (over five days) that mean something to them. These may not be their top five songs of all time – merely songs that attach to a specific memory or time in their life.

We continue this series with Sarah from Eurovision Ireland. What’s her first choice, and what’s the story behind it?

Olivia Newton-John – Long live love

I have chosen this because as a nine-year-old back in 1974 , I remember very vividly Long Live Love being played a lot on the UK radio stations during the build up to Brighton 1974 and really liked the song. My Mum told me that this was the UK entry for a contest called “The Eurovision Song Contest “, which was held every year.

To my surprise, as it was a weekend, I was allowed to stay up to watch all the contest. I was really hoping that Olivia would win it for us but unfortunately, she came 4th. I was, however, happy with the winner that year, who I am sure we all remember very well!

If you have five songs that really mean something to you, drop us a line with them and the stories behind them, and you could feature soon.
