
Here at Eurovision Ireland, we are taking a historical look back on our favourite Contests past and present, on the very day they took place. Today it’s February 12th:
Saturday 13th February 1965
On this day in 1965, the 6th edition of Melodifestivalen took place in Stockholm. Ingvar Wixell took victory with “Annorstädes vals” and 50 points. At the 1965 Eurovision Song Contest in Naples, Ingvar finished 10th, with 6 points.
Tuesday 13th February 1962
On this day in 1962, the 4th edition of Melodifestivalen took place in Stockholm. Inger Berggren took victory with “Sol och vår” and 102,327 votes. At the 1962 Eurovision Song Contest in Luxembourg City, Inger finished 7th, with 4 points.
