Voxovation, the international rights holder of the Eurovision Song Contest, is proposing Eurovision Arab World – a format for the countries based in the Arab World.
The proposal of the Arab World format has appeared on Voxovation’s website. On the same page of their website, Eurovision Canada and Eurovision India appear to be no longer in the works. Voxovation explained the following on their website:
“EUROVISION ARAB WORLD is a celebration of that unity — a television event that brings together nations with deep histories and modern ambitions, where music bridges generations and traditions. Imagine the passion of the Arab Cup, the glamour of the Cairo Film Festival, and the cultural prestige of Expo Dubai, all wrapped in the artistry, emotion, and spectacle that define Eurovision Song Contest.”
The Arab World is defined by 22 countries. They are Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
Morocco have previously participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1980, while Lebanon (2005) and Tunisia (1977) withdrew ahead of the relevant Contests.
