
RTV Drenthe, the Dutch regional broadcaster, have opened applications for ‘Songfestival Drenthe, Pop in ‘t plat’ – their selection for the 2026 Regio Songfestival.
RTV Drenthe have opened song submissions for ‘Songfestival Drenthe, Pop in ‘t plat’, with submissions open until Monday 2nd February. ‘Songfestival Drenthe, Pop in ‘t plat’ was used as the regional selection for the first time in 2025. Martin van der Veen, Editor in Chief for RTV Drenthe, had the following to say:
“We’re happy with the high quality, especially with the new Drenthe-language music that has been released as a result. At RTV Drenthe, we believe it’s important to continue producing new music in our regional language. That’s why we’re organising the Drenthe Song Festival – Pop in ‘t Plat again next year.”
The rules for ‘Songfestival Drenthe, Pop in ‘t plat’ are as follows:
- The song is written and sung in Drents
- The song has not been released before
- It is an original composition (not a cover)
- The song is suitable for live performance
- The artist(s) may not have been in the Top 40
- The artist(s) are available for rehearsals, recordings and promotion with RTV Drenthe
