
Here at Eurovision Ireland, we are taking a historical look back on our favourite Contests past and present, on the very day they took place. Today it’s May 29th:
Saturday 29th May 2010
On this day in 2010, the 55th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest took place in Oslo, Norway. Germany took victory with Lena performing “Satellite” and 246 points.
Saturday 29th May 1999
On this day in 1999, the 44th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest took place in Jerusalem, Israel. Austria, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Denmark, Iceland and Lithuania all returned, while Finland, Greece, Hungary, North Macedonia, Romania, Slovakia and Switzerland all withdrew from the Contest. Sweden took victory with Charlotte Nilsson performing “Take Me to Your Heaven” and 163 points.
