#HERE TODAY,GONE TOMORROW: Continuing our look at past Swiss Eurovision participants.

The new Eurovision season is now on us and during the build up to National Final Season and the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, we at Eurovision Ireland felt it would be timely to continue with our Here Today, Gone Tomorrow series , where we look at past Eurovision performers and where they are and what they are doing now . As Switzerland are our host country for 2025, we have decided to focus this series entirely on the past Swiss performers at Eurovision .

Today we are taking a trip back to 1991, when the contest was held in Rome, Italy and Switzerland was represented by Sandra Simo with her song “Canzone per te “

Sandra Simo ( now known as Sandra Studer) is a Swiss singer , born in Zurich in 1969 . She represented Switzerland at the 1991 Eurovision Song Contest in Rome, Italy , coming a very creditable 5th place . However, she had previously tried to represent her country the year before , with the song “Lo So ” but finished in last place in the Swiss National selection contest .

Sandra made a brief return to Eurovision in 1994 when she presented the Swiss jury votes at the contest in Dublin. In 2021, she was runner up on the second season of the Swiss version of “The Masked Singer”. Ironically , this season also featured a certain future Eurovision winner, Nemo .These days Sandra is a well-known TV presenter and has hosted past national selections of both Switzerland and Germany.

Could Sandra make an appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel? Either in an interval act or hosting capacity?
