AVROTROS, the Dutch national broadcaster, have confirmed participation at the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest, in Basel.
AVROTROS confirmed participation after a number of changes were promised by the EBU, the European Broadcasting Union. These include appointing a safety manager in the artist environment, severely reducing behind-the-scenes filming, a ‘safe space’ for artists behind the scenes where they will not be disturbed, a crisis team consisting of representatives of the EBU, participating countries and the organising broadcaster, so that important decisions are taken democratically & the appointment of Martin Green as new Eurovision director to oversee these changes.
AVROTROS had the following to say:
“AVROTROS will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Switzerland. After months of discussions and consultations, the broadcaster has received sufficient guarantees from the EBU that structural changes will be implemented at the music festival. Joost Klein was offered the opportunity to participate again. But in the end, he chose to decline this offer. Registration for new songs for 2025 is now open.”
