RTCG, the Montenegrin national broadcaster, have revealed the first details of Montesong 2024 – their national selection for the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest, in Basel.
Montesong 2024 will be held on Tuesday 26th & Wednesday 27th November. The Contest will be held at the Voco Hotel in Podgorica. Danijel Alibabić, the Festival Director, had the following to say:
“I would like it to be a tradition like Dora in Croatia and for it to be of that quality. I believe that the stage will be spectacular. There will also be rehearsals, so that the singers and the team can correct everything they don’t like and change what they want.”
Vladana Vučinić, the Artistic Director, had the following to say:
“The jury will include local musicians, as well as musicians from abroad. It will consist of prominent musicians. We want to give musicians support and an opportunity to present themselves. I encourage everyone to come forward. We would like to hear diverse musical styles. There is room for everyone on stage.
Finances have always been our biggest problem. We have to provide young musicians with support, and this is a real opportunity. For now, the Ministry of Culture and Media hasn’t shown interest. But we hope to win the favour of the institutions.”
Montesong 2024 will be the first national selection held by Montenegro since 2019. For Montesong 2024, the same voting system used in the Eurovision Song Contest final will be implemented – 50% jury votes & 50% public votes. While songwriters don’t have to be a Montenegrin national, the performers of their song submissions do.
