
It is three weeks since SRG SSR, the Swiss national broadcaster won the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest, in Malmö, however host city interest has already begun for the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest.
The President of the Canton of Basel-Stadt, Conradin Cramer, has stated that Basel is ready with a strategy that will focus on infrastructure, accessibility, and hospitality. So far, a venue has yet to be suggested to host the Contest. Conradin Cramer, had the following to say:
“It would be great and honourable if Basel could host the next edition of this globally popular singing competition for Switzerland.”
The Municipal Council of Biel and the Government of the Canton of Bern, are encouraging the Swiss capital to lodge a host city bid. The Canton had the following to say:
“The government council notes that several congress and trade fair locations in the canton of Bern have an attractive infrastructure. It is open to applications and is willing to examine requests for support.”
Christine Bolt, head of the Olma agricultural exhibition, has suggested St. Gallen hosts the Contest at the new Olma Hall. The new Olma Hall was opened at the beginning of March and has a capacity for up to 12,000 people. Liechtenstein has also expressed a tourism partnership with St. Gallen as part of the host city bid. Matthias Ulrich, Head of Liechtenstein Marketing, had the following to say:
“The region has previously been working together in this field and Liechtenstein Marketing feels this is a moment when the whole region is needed.”
