The city of Malmö have confirmed they will be taking a break from Eurovision, following their hosting of the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest.

Karin Karlsson, a Director of the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest, had the following to say:

“I think Malmö will take a break from Eurovision for a while . It is clear that we want to do it again , but if we won in 2025 , I suppose we would not be in the group applying for Eurovision . But politics may want something more.

It cannot be said that we have had a very good year, but it is not a bad one either. It was a tense and very costly year in terms of security . If Sweden wins next year and we receive an offer, we will reject it.”
