🇸🇪 #ESC24: Stockholm & Gothenburg Submit Expression Of Interests

Two cities have expressed an interest in bidding to host the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest – the deadline of which is tomorrow, Monday 12th June.

Stockholm is the favourite to host the Contest next year. However, with Globen due for renovation, Tele2 and Friends Arena are the only options for the host venue. THREE FOOTBALL CLUBS are housed at these two arenas and are reluctant to move from their homes for the period of the Contest.

Gothenburg have also expressed an interest in bidding for host city status – even if the Scandinavium’s ceiling is seen as an issue to some. Magnus Hallberg, Vice President of Göteborg & Co and part of the team, had the following to say:

“The short answer is yes, we are more than ready.

We have looked at everything from arena capacity and solutions for sustainability, to creating an attractive party place for the audience, what the EBU usually calls Eurovillage. There are many pieces that have to fall into place, but we can handle that in Gothenburg.

Even the most  technical and crucial area, Scandinavium’s old roof that has problem with holding up modern light rigging, there seems to be a solution too.”
