SVT, the Swedish national broadcaster, has confirmed that they will not be participating at the 2023 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, in Nice.

Sweden have participated in the Contest between 2003-2007 and 2009-2014. SVT did not broadcast the Contest in 2008 or from 2015 onwards. Sweden will be the first Eurovision Song Contest winners not to participate in the Contest – a trend that started in 2016. Madeleine Sinding-Larsen, from SVT’s Communication Department, had the following to say:

“SVT and Sweden will not participate in Junior Eurovision 2023.”
